What is the thermoforming condition of expanded polystyrene?

Expanded polystyrene can also as the raw materials of thermoforming, it is commonly used in the manufacture of packaging containers and short-term insulation containers. Products are characterized by small density, good insulation, which is due to the very poor thermal conductivity of this material,. When in the molding, the heater temperature should not be higher than 340 ℃. In order to achieve the necessary molding temperature, heating time can be extended to be remedied. If you use extrusion feeding, without secondary heating, which may be in an ideal condition. In addition, when heating, due to the foam plastic (sheet) material will be further expanded, easy to wrinkle when molding, should be paid special attention. If foamed polystyrene sheet material in good thermoforming performance, we can use ordinary vacuum forming equipment and mold molding.

There is an example of a thermoformed fast food box which made by expanded polystyrene sheet is shown below.
Expanded polystyrene board material which tensile strength of 1.1 ~ 1.2MPa; heat resistance at 100 ℃, 10min shrinkage ≤ 2.5%, at 60 ℃, 20min shrink ≤ 1.5%; health performance in line with national standards (1), the thickness of 1 ~ 4mm; GB 8689-1988 requirements.
Foam polystyrene board material thermoforming lunch boxes. The use of temperature is -10 ~ 100 ℃; the tensile strength of 1.2MPa; elongation ≥ 10%; resistance to boiling water, no deformation; cold 30 ℃ no change; health performance in line with GB 8689-1988 requirements.

Thermoformed lunch box has excellent performance, especially its heat resistance, outstanding insulation performance, and clean, low price, so popular with business and has the vast number of consumers. It has become the main form of fast-food packaging.
After the use of these fast-food packaging, EPS can also be recycled which is called polystyrene recycling, and used for other purposes, such as frame products.
